A Uganda Truck driver has been reported dead and his turn man injured after suspected armed robbers attacked them in Ikotos County in Imatong State about 20 kilometers from the South Sudan-Ugandan border point.
The victims are said to have been attacked on Friday and their truck robbed on their way to deliver maize to Ugandan traders in the youngest African State.
The deceased was identified as Musa Bunya and Jackson Kiyaga who was admitted in critical condition at Isoke Hospital in Ikotos Town.
The two were from Lira District (Uganda) heading to S. Sudan through Lamwo District to deliver maize to Ugandan traders in Ikotos County when they were attacked and robbed off unspecified amount of money.
Lamwo District Resident District Commissioner Jonathan Rutabingwa, who confirmed the incident urged S. Sudan security officials to step up security for Ugandan traders in the country as is the case with the S. Sudan business men who are treated well here in Uganda.
Over time, there have been several cases of Ugandan traders attacked by gunmen in S. Sudan.
