Singer Hajjat Sophie Nantongo has dragged her former husband Hajji Abdul Mubiru also known as Kagoma of the Kagoma tea factory to courts of law for allegedly defaulting a Shs 30m debt.
Last week, Nantongo alleged that between March and September 2007, she lent Shs 20m to her former husband which was to be paid back in instalments after one year without charges.
The couple even made an agreement.
Nantongo through her lawyers, Esther Nalubwama of Ayungule & Co. Advocates asked court to recover the money.
Nantongo continued to tell Mengo Magistrates Court that after their divorce, she reminded Kagoma of the money but he kept a deaf ear claiming that his factory (Kagoma Tea factory) was not making money and he had a financial constraint.
However, Kagoma and his lawyers are said to have denied the allegations of the money Nantongo is alleging to have lent their client.
They claimed that when the two were married, Kagoma was the one bankrolling Nantongo’s music career and she didn’t have the money.
Court asked Nantongo to present witnesses to court in the next sitting scheduled for June 12 this year.
Nantongo left Mubiru a few years back and got married to the then Simba Fc Coach, Sam Simbwa.
