A 29 year old man Lwamata sub county in Kiboga district, central Uganda has killed his 80-year old father in cold blood following a land conflict.

Godfrey Tatu is said to have cut his father James Lwasa to death using a panga and a hoe.  Tatu also seriously injured his 60- year-old mother, Maria Tereza.

Tatu had reportedly been given four acres from the whole chunk of family land by his father as his share. However, he sold his entire share and started demanding for more.

But when his father refused to give in to his demands, he threatened to deal with him.

He is also accused of stealing his father’s cattle which he sold before the unfortunate incident.

In a dramatic move, Tatu after killing his father handed himself over to police seeking for protection from his incensed siblings who wanted to lynch him while his mother is fighting for her life in hospital.

Land conflicts leading to murder have become common in Kiboga district. Just two months ago, five landlords; Bosco Mugisha, Paul Bukenya, Charles Matovu, Dominic Mark Mugambe Asiimwe and Swalick Mukunya were brutality murdered due to a land dispute.

The deceased were all residents of Ochenge zone in Nansana Parish in Wakiso district, two of whom owned 322 acres piece of land located at Singo bloc 577, plot 6 which they inherited from their father Yozefu Wakulanume.

Police has since arrested nine people who are currently being prosecuted in court for murder.
