Sheikh Major Maj Muhammad Kiggundu who was on Saturday morning shot to death by unknown assailants has been laid to rest.
Sheikh Maj Kiggundu, who was a witness in a murder case involving Muslim clerics, was on Saturday laid to rest in Namagoma, Wakiso District.
He was shot more than 20 times in the chest in Masanafu, Rubaga Division, Kampala.
Chief of Defence Forces yesterday said: “It’s was unfortunate that a trained soldier was gunned down”
Some clerics said during Sheikh Maj Kiggundu’s prayer service that: “We suspect that this is meant to scare us from testifying against the accused. This murder is not different from the rest”
Muslims also questioned the security capability after the death of Maj. Kiggundu.
Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata asked Police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi to tighten security.
Maj Kiggundu was the husband to the renowned traditional doctor Sylvia Namutebi commonly known as Mama Fiina.
