Iganga police is holding six people in connection with the theft local musician, Geoffrey Lutaaya’s car.
Over the weekend, armed men waylaid Lutaaya and his wife Irene Namatovu in Butambala, put them on gunpoint and drove away in their Nadia vehicle registration number UAY 455Q.
The vehicle was later found hidden in a garage along the Iganga – Jinja main highway this morning.
Nassibu Nditta, the Iganga District Police Commander, told URN he dispatched a team of detectives to the garage after receiving a tip off that some unidentified people had taken there the vehicle.
Phillip Mukasa, the police spokesperson for Katonga region told Daily Monitor they created a wider spy network that enabled police to get the singer’s car.
He said the car would be driven back to Central Police Station in Kampala.
Namatovu, her husband Geoffrey Lutaaya and other three members of De New Eagles’ band were reportedly undressed.
The thugs stole Shs 1.5m and other valuables including phones.
