￼Following social media outburst about the shooting of community development officer over a car scratch in a parking lot in Kampala, former Forum for Democratic Change Presidential candidate Kizza Besigye’s wife has spoken out.
Winnie Byanyima, the executive director of Oxfam has said the alleged killer Mathew Kanyamumyu is her nephew before sending a condolence message to the family of the victim Kenneth Akena.
Byanyaima on Monday shared on her twitter handle that: ““My heart and prayers are with Akena’s family. Let justice be done. Matthew is my nephew. A tragedy for us too.”
Akena is said to have been shot at Game Stores parking lot and rushed to hospital where he died moments later.
At his death bed, Akena reportedly told his brother that he had been shot be Kanyamunyu and is lover Cynthia Munwangari who had driven him to the hospital.
He said in the process of reversing his car after withdrawing some money from an automated teller machine at the store, he knocked Kanyamunyu’s car.
He got out of the car to go and apologise but was instead shot in the stomach before he even said a word.
Kanyamunyu suspected to be a security operative but also the chief executive officer of Quantum Express Logistics were arrested by police and detained at Jinja road police station.
However, police said they are still looking for the gun (murder weapon) which is said to have been used by the two suspects.
