Robert Shaka, 39, an information technology specialist, has been charged with disturbing the right of privacy of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The social critic who police accuses of running a Facebook account under the names of Tom Voltaire Okwalinga aka TVO, has also been denied bail by court.
According to his lawyer, Nicholas Opiyo, Shaka was “hauled” to Buganda Road Court Thursday afternoon and charged.
The case is being handled by Buganda Road Chief Magistrate, Lillian Bucyana.
According to the charge sheet, Shaka is accused of spreading offensive communication contrary to the C/s 25 of the Computer Misuse Act.
The particulars of the offence state that “Shaka Robert while disguising as Tom Voltaire Okwalinga between the year 2011 and 2015 in the Kampala district willfully and repeatedly using a computer with no purpose of legitimate communication disturbed the right of privacy of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni by posting statements as regards his health condition on social media to wit Facebook”.
The charge sheet is signed by a one DASP Emmanuel Mbonimpa, the officer preferring the charge.
It was authored by CIID headquarters on June 8, 2015 under Ref No: CIID HGTRS/E/121/2015.
Opiyo says court has adjourned the ruling on bail for Monday, next week.
Shaka has been sent to Luzira on remand until that day.
Police disregarded an earlier court order issued by Nakawa Grade One Magistrate, Alex Mushabe Karocho, and dated June 11, 2015 directed the commandant Special Investigations Division (SID) headquarters Kireka to immediately release Shaka.
He has been detained at the same station for allegedly posing as Tom Voltaire Okwalinga aka TVO.
Court faulted police for detaining Shaka more than three days without trial.
