Shaka released on Shs2m bail

Robert Shaka has been released on a cash bail of Shs 2m.

Shaka left behind his passport while court asked sureties to pay Shs 5m.

Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate, Lilian Buchana, Friday remanded Shaka to Luzira for speaking on President Yoweri Museveni’s health and violating his privacy through a social media, Facebook page under the pseudo name “Tom Voltaire Okwalinga”.

Shaka denies the charges.

He will return to court on June 30, 2015, for the hearing of his case.

Shaka was arrested from his home last week and detained at SIU headquarters in Kireka.

His lawyer, Nicholas Opiyo, says they sought a court order from Nakawa court for his release but police declined and instead took him to court from where he was sent to Luzira.

A social media campaign for his release has been raging.
