Dr. Kizza Besigye, the former Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party president says he will use mobile phones to track election malpractices once he is elected as the party flag bearer for the 2016 general elections.
According to Besigye, once he succeeds in tracking cases of malpractice, he will be able to unseat the incumbent and end the years of patronage by the ruling National Resistance Movement party.
According to URN, Besigye used his campaign rally in Kitgum to issue two phones to his supporters and asked them to use them to coordinate with him.
He promised to instruct voters how to approach each situation as it presents itself through the lines.
Meanwhile, Gen David Sejusa, Chairman Free Uganda, has a question or two as far as elections are concerned.
As the battle for a new democratic dispensation enters a new decisive phase, there are some among the country’s political elites who are doubting the people’s resolve to put an end to Museveni’s well-rehearsed plan to organise and hold another sham election in Uganda, he writes.
He says the question these politicians are asking is – “…how can the people stop the election from happening?”
“To these I can also pause these counter questions: So, those who are going into the election, which is already rigged as is the case, how do you intend to protect and defend your victory?”
“Do you intend to do nothing when Museveni openly steals it as he will? If not, what capacity are you putting in place to fight for your intended victory? Is it not the same logic that the capacity to fight for your stolen victory is the same as the one to stop it from happening in the first place?”
Sejusa urged the opposition not to rash and blindly fall into “this well-known Museveni trap”.
“Ugandan people demand answers, and they want them now.
This is not the time to prevaricate. It is not the time for mixed messages.”
He says now is the time for decisive action to save Uganda from “a tragedy of unimaginable proportions”.
