Sand Cranes off to Malindi for beach soccer


The Uganda national Beach Soccer team ‘Sand Cranes’ is set to take part in the Malindi International Tournament.

A contingent of 17 people comprising of   4 Officials, 3 referees and 10 players has set off today at 3pm via road to Malindi, Kenya.

The tournament is slated to start on Friday 18th and ends on Sunday 20th December 2015.

Five teams are expected to take part and these include Uganda, Kenya, Zanzibar, Tanzania and Ghana as the guest team.

Traveling list

Officials: Twemesigye Anthony, Deo Mutabazi, Mwebe Ali and Salim Muwonge.

Referees: Ivan Bayige, Muhammed Senteza and Shafiq Mugerwa.

Players: Kansiime Simon ( St Lawrence) ,Muzafaru Tamale (Real Galacticals ),Abdul Karim Kibalama (Real Galacticals ),Jojo Mutebi (Buwanika Bulls),Rica Byaruhanga (Buwanika Bulls),John Revita –Captain (Real Glacticals ,Dennis Serukwaya (Real Galacticals ),Hamis Kafeero (Real Glacticals ),Roch Somoka (oNkumba Select ) and Herbert Luboyera (Mutesa 1 Royal University).

The team coach Salim Muwonge promised though they haven’t got enough time to prepare like other teams but believes in his team and expects to win the trophy.
