The Northern Bahr al Ghazal State Legislative Assembly has reportedly formed an investigation committee into projects run by former Caretaker Governor Kuel Aguer Kuel.
The parliamentary committee will investigate an alleged 3 million dollar purchase of 24 vehicles, as well as other procedural matters.
In February, the state government spokesman said: “We have received these cars in the terms of 3 million US dollars.”
According to National Courier, if true, that means the average contract price per vehicle was $120,000, significantly higher than the market price for such vehicles.
According to an MP in the state parliament, the delivery consisted of 10 RAV-4 vehicles, 14 Toyota 5-doors and one V-8 vehicle.
Meanwhile, in the Governor of Upper Nile State Simon Kun Puoch replaced Commissioner Dau Goc Ayul of the oil producing Melut County and Commissioner Timothy Nyewe Mori of Maban County on Thursday.
The State Minister of Information Peter Hoth Tuach said that Governor Kun appointed John Ivo Mounto as the Commissioner of Maban County and Bol Aguer as the new Commissioner of Melut County.
Peter Hoth said that Dau Goc was appointed as an advisor to the one of the State Ministries.
He also added that the new Commissioner of Maban, John Ivo, will serve in two positions as Security Advisor to the Governor and as the Commissioner.
Commissioner John Ivo was the Deputy Governor from 2012-2013.
