One person has been killed in a random shooting this morning in Maridi County in Western Equatoria State.
Residents told Eye radio that they were fleeing for safety.
They say markets have been closed and some houses burnt.
The executive director in the county, John Ezkia Paul, told the radio that the shooting followed a grenade attack on a cattle camp last night at Sika-Rumbek.
He says the shooting could be a response to the attack.
Gunfire exchange is still ongoing in the town.
In Bahr al Ghazal State, a rebel assault saw the capture of an SPLA garrison in Aweil West County on Sunday.
Kuol Madang Kuol, the rebel-appointed ‘governor’ of Northern Bahr al Ghazal told Radio Tamazuj that government troops suffered heavy losses during the fighting.
Meanwhile, the Aweil Commissioner Garang Kuac who says the rebels never captured Achana administrative unit as earlier claimed.
