Government has confirmed that Charles Wesley Mumbere, the King of Rwenzururu Kingdom is being held at Nalufenya in Jinja district.
Police Spokesperson, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, says Mumbere is wanted together with his guards in connection to the death of more than 60 people in the last one week.
30 Rwenzururu Royal guards were picked up this morning, barely 24 hours after the arrest of King Mumbere. According to Kaweesi, the weapons used in the killings have been traced to the kingdom.
Kaweesi also said that police had earlier asked Mumbere to order his subjects to surrender all deadly weapons but all was in vain.
‘King Mumbere’s approach to solve the issue makes him responsible because he did not cooperate with us.’ said Kaweesa
