Rwanda Defence Force Teams in EAC military Games that closed yesterday in Kampala were crowned Champion in Football after winning gold medals in Basketball and Handball.
The RDF Chief of Defence Staff Gen Patrick Nyamvumba congratulated players at EAC Military Games Crowning ceremony attended by EAC Chief of Defence Forces.
The RDF Football team claimed victory after a draw between Kenya and Uganda (0-0).
The RDF Football team clinched the trophy with seven points out of twelve (7/12) followed by Kenya and Uganda with six points each.
With the last matches in Basketball and Handball played on Monday evening August 24, Rwanda emerged the best winning team in Basketball with 7 points out of 8 and in Handball with 6 points out of 8 points, receiving gold medals in both disciplines.
In Cross Country RDF teams ranked third for 8 km Women race and 12 Km Men race.
Kenya won the Gold medal in that discipline followed by Uganda. In Netball women, RDF team ranked fourth. Uganda won the gold medal in Netball Women.
Rwanda Chief of Defence Staff, Gen P. Nyamvumba, received the EAC Flag from the host, Gen. Katumba-Wamala, at a colorful closing ceremony attended by Uganda Minister of State for Defence, Lt. Gen (Rtd) Jeje Odongo, The EAC Secretary General Amb. Richard Sezibera, Defence Chiefs from EAC Partner States and a parked Stadium. Rwanda will host the EAC Military Games and Culture 2016.
The EAC military games closed on Wednesday 26 August 2015 at Mandela Stadium, Namboole in Kampala saw all 5 EAC partner States namely Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda participating in the EAC Military Games and Culture aimed at fostering friendship and cooperation among partner states.
