Nathan Igeme Nabeta

The ruling of an election petitioned in which Forum for Democratic Change (FDC’s) Paul Mwiru filed challenging the election of National Resistance Movement (NRM)’s Nathan Igeme Nabeta as Jinja Municipality East has been transferred to Jinja High Court.

Additionally, the High Court in Kampala which heard the petition deferred the ruling July 18.

High Court registrar- Civil Division Alex Ajiji Wednesday adjourned the ruling saying, “I have been asked by the trial Judge [Lydia Mugambe] to adjourn the ruling to another date.”

According to him, the ruling will be delivered at Paul Mwiru contrary to the parties’ expectation that it would be delivered at in Kampala where it had been heard.

Mr Mwiru petitioned the High Court challenging the election of Mr Nabeta on grounds that the election was not free and fair adding that it was marred by irregularities.

However, Mr Nabeta, who won the elections dismissed the claims saying the elections were conducted in a free and fair manner and denied any wrong doing.

He argued that he won the elections on merit.
