Return access tags or deal with consequences, Parliament warns kicked-out journalists

Parliament has taken a bitter stance against 43 journalists who were previously attached to the House ordering them to return access tags.
In March last year, the House Clerk, Jane Kibirige, ordered senior journalists out of the house and asked media houses to replace all their respective journalists who had been covering parliamentary proceedings for more than five years.
“…..the Parliamentary Commission has, in the interest of balanced media coverage of Parliament, made a decision to the effect that all reporters who have been covering Parliament for more than five years be replaced with effect from May 1, 2015,” said Kibirige.
Consequently, Uganda Parliamentary Press Association (UPPA) petitioned court protesting the moe. The case is yet to be decided.
But in a Monday communications all the kicked out journalists were ordered to return access tags, failure of which would attract dire consequences, according to a parliament warning to the journalists.
According to the communication from Kibirige th following Journalists are advised to return the security access tags before any action that they used during the 9th Parliament.
