Singer Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine says that the society is only focusing on fighting against marijuana but not alcohol.
Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze said a week ago that she was preparing a bill to regulate the promotion, sale and consumption of alcohol.
According to Bobi Wine, alcohol too should be regulated because it is equally addictive.
He was speaking to journalist Solomon Serwanjja while unearthing some of the notorious drug lords in Kampala.
“I have seen some musicians use marijuana but not cocaine. They know its effects,” Bobi said.
“Well, it’s for the elite and expensive.”
Last week, Bobi Wine was summoned to police for obstructing the arrest of colleagues found abusing drugs at his studios in Kamwokya.
Bobi said he would recommend the use of marijuana as medicine if well controlled.
Edwin Niwamanya, a Counselor, told NBS TV that sometimes, she has to hide tea leaves from some patients who might use them as marijuana.
Marijuana is said to be currently grown at a large scale in Busia eastern Uganda.
Sometimes Kenyans apparently hire gardens and grow marijuana at the border town.
A security Officer Posta Uganda told the TV that marijuana dealers use calabashes to traffic drugs to Dubai and China.
“Some marijuana dealers usually disguise as ‘Pastors’ sending donations’”.
