Last evening, together with my wife Janet, we met members of the NRM Women’s League led by their chairperson, Hon Lydia Wanyoto, at our country home in Rwakitura.
The NRM has always stressed the importance of unity and all-inclusiveness. It is why from the onset we opposed marginalisation of the youth, women and the disabled.
It is the theme of this unity that I preached to the Women’s league, asking them to shun anyone who sows seeds of sectarianism. Even our African kings never saw the importance of uniting our people. If you look at the Bantu dialect, it is similar all way from here to South Africa, the same with Nilotics, all the way to Kenya. We have a lot to unite us.
The women should also be at the forefront of preaching prosperity. The Bible says ‘a nation without a vision perishes’. Our vision is prosperity.
Wealth creation therefore will be key in our next term. Already people are listening. I have so far received over 400 head of cattle as gifts in this campaign season. This is possible because people are now prospering. Ultimately wealth will help us resolve the question of jobs.
