Policeman caught with pre-ticked NRM ballot papers

Police deployed in Jinja to man NRM elections

A police officer in Lwengo town council Masaka district has been caught with pre-ticked ballots in the ongoing NRM primaries.

The officer whose name has not yet been provided, according to reports, was smuggling the ballots out of Lwengo police station.

Only a day back, a car carrying Kinkiizi East MP, Chris Baryomunsi’s pre-ticked ballot papers crashed at Katojjo in Kambuga Kanungu district.

Sarah Muwonge Nkonge, the presidential advisor on land matters, is a candidate for the Lwengo Woman MP NRM flag.

The police officer was smuggling ballots in favour of Nkonge, Joseph Muyomba Kasozi for Bukoto mid-west and George Mutabazi for LC 5 chairperson.

The elections have been cancelled.

Five people including a woman claiming to be security operatives working for Sarah Nkonge were yesterday detained at Lwengo police.

Three people were also critically injured in Bukoto Mid-West (Lwengo) in night clashes between rival NRM camps.

In Buwangi village, Musubiro parish, Lwengo, a gang of youths locked residents inside their houses threatening the worst.
