Police traffic boss killed by bodaboda


As victims of road accident seem to be increasing, police officers have also not been spared.
As police is still coming to terms with the death of Kalungu district traffic police boss, another senior traffic police officer has been confirmed dead after he was reportedly knocked dead by a speeding motorcycle along Sironko-Bulambuli-Kapchorwa.

Assistant Inspector of Police Richard Ogalimo from Serere District, was a traffic officer at Bulambuli Police Station and had been deployed to direct traffic when he was knocked.

According to eye witnesses the speeding boda-boda rider, Fred Gizamba, knocked the police traffic officer between Muyembe and Buyaga trading centres at around 5pm.

The Elgon Region Police spokesperson Diana Nandawula, told the press that the 52 year old officer officer had inspected a vehicle and was returning to his standpoint when the cyclist rammed into him.

Ogalimo is the second senior traffic officer to be killed in a motor accident in less than a month.
Last month, Kalungu district traffic police commander was killed in a motor accident along Kampala-Masaka road as he was directing traffic in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
