The latest news we are getting indicates that police and other security organs have surrounded a group of suspected terrorists in Kyengera, a Kampala suburb.
The police heavily deployed and sealed off rental units near Gapco Petrol Station in Kyengera.
Police believes the occupants are armed with explosive materials which they intend to use to bomb Kampala.
The Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura, is expected at the scene any minute from now.
Fred Enanga, the police spokesman, this morning told New Vision that they had arrested a suspected terrorist in the same area (Kyengera) in Wakiso district.
He said Kayihura would address the press shortly with the details.
Enanga, however, added that they were interrogating the suspect to establish his links with the terror group.
Another Somalia-based Islamist terrorist group Al Shabaab suspect was last week arrested at a hostel near Makerere University.
On Friday, Kayihura told journalists that they had credible information that Al-Shabaab was planning attacks on schools, colleges and universities on the Jinja-Kampala highway.
This comes on heels of Al Shabaab attack on Garissa University in Kenya which left about 148 students dead.
Al Shabaab in a statement said they would execute more attacks on both Uganda and Kenya.
UPDATE: The police have gained access of the house harbouring suspected Al Shabaab terrorists and gathered three (3) of them.
Police forensic experts also moved from house to house looking for more evidence.
