Police has released Vincent Kaggwa, Amama Mbabazi’s supporter who was “kidnapped” last week.
Witnesses say Flying Squad agents picked Kaggwa from his Katanga home in Wandegeya and whisked him off to an unknown destination.
This morning, his friends said he had been released and was fine.
Police spokesman, Fred Enanga, too confirmed Kaggwa had been released on police bond.
He does not say where Kaggwa was being held for close to a week.
“He was in possession of campaign materials of one presidential aspirant,” Enanga said.
He adds: “The campaign materials were meant to be distributed on Eid day at places of worship, this would disrupt Eid day celebrations.”
“The law allows police to prevent intended crime,” Enanga concluded.
Kaggwa’s release comes after intense pressure launched on social media against his illegal arrest.
