Police is still heavily deployed at the home of FDC Secretary for Mobilisation Ingrid Turinawe.
At exactly 1am on Wednesday morning, police deployed at Ingrid’s home in Gayaza Wakiso district and cordoned off the premises.
Two police trucks parked outside her gate and blocked her from leaving.
She was supposed to appear at Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court where opposition leader Kizza Besigye appeared this morning.
When contacted this evening, Ingrid told us police was still manning her home without any plans of leaving soon.
“I had thought these goons were surrounding me to prevent me from going to court! I seem to be mistaken,” she said.
She explained that although court ended long time ago, there was no sign of these people [police] vacating her home.
“Even with the heavy rain, they remained unbothered.”
She said a third police truck entered her compound and delivered food [posho and beans] for the officers.
“What could be the motive of these people? May be the arrest is going to be permanent. So, I will not be allowed to move anymore?” she wondered.
The Iron Lady had just been released from jail [last Tuesday] after being arrested in Gayaza trading centre in Wakiso district.
She was detained at Nakasongola police station and later at Standard Investigations Unit in Kireka where she staged a hunger strike.
She was later charged with inciting violence, taken out of prison, driven and dumped at her home in Gayaza Wakiso district.
