Uganda Police is mourning the untimely passing on of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Masaba Moses.
“We regret the demise of the youthful officer,” ACP Polly Namaye, the
Assistant Press and Public Relations Officer, said in a statement.
ASP Masaba Moses has been the Regional Officer (RO) in charge of Fire and Rescue Activities for Aswa Region Headquarters at Gulu District.
On the 12th June 2016 while responding to the attack on Gulu Police Station ASP Masaba Moses was shot in the chest and sustained injuries to which he succumbed on Monday 13thJune2016.
The late Masaba is a son to the late Stephen Wanyangala and Ms. Monica Wanyangala.
He studied O-level at Kiira College Butiki from 1996 -1999, A-level at Bukoyo Secondary School from 2000-2002.
He later enrolled at Makerere University where he acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from 2003 -2006, and an Administrative certificate from Law Development Centre (LDC) in 2009.
The late Masaba Moses enrolled into the Uganda Police Force on the 15th November 2010 and had his initial training at Police Training School Kabalye from 2010-2013.
In 2012, he was deployed to the Directorate of Fire and Rescue Services of the Uganda Police Force.r
He underwent another specialized course in Fire and Rescue for five (5) months and was then transferred to Jinja District as the Fire and Rescue Operations Officer.
In 2013, he was elevated to head the Regional Fire and Rescue Office for North Kyoga Region (Lira) Region.
He served there for 2 years before being transferred to Aswa Region to head the Regional Fire and Rescue Office.
At the time of his death, Asp Masaba Moses had been assigned as the standby senior officer for the day and was responding to the attack.
The Uganda Police Force will fully take charge of costs for the burial.
A–Plus Funeral Services has been contracted to transport the body to Mulago Hospital for a postmortem today 14th June2016.
Thereafter, A- Plus will continue to manage all other burial arrangements together with members of the deceased family and the Police fraternity.
The late ASP Masaba Moses will be laid to rest tomorrow 15thJune 2016 at Bungokho Village, Bungokho Sub County in Mbale District, 5km along Mbale-Tororo Road.
He is survived by a mother and five (5) siblings.
ASP Masaba will be greatly missed for the calm and composed way he carried out his Police services.
The Police would like to assure the family of the diseased and all members of the public that suspects behind this heinous attack shall be brought to justice.
Already, six suspects are being interrogated in relation to the attack.
