Police has summoned all officers who were on duty last week when a group of hooded thugs beat up Kizza Besigye’s supporters along Kasangati road.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga told press in Kampala on Monday that all officers who were on duty that day have been called to record statement.
According to Enanga, the force is trying to ascertain whether their officers invited these goons to beat up people.
“We want to know whether police hired the thugs to help them. If not they will be arrested.
Those found guilty of the act will face a disciplinary committee.
He assured the public that the thugs will punished.
On Tuesday, April 12, thugs dressed in black T-shirts beat up boda boda riders who were escorting Besigye using electric cable wires.
They sprayed pepper in the air ahead of the cyclists, blinding them and forcing them to break, often falling in a pile.
Abbas Byakagaba, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander, ordered their immediate investigation after the public cried out demanding for answers.
