Drama ensued in Kiboga town as Dr Kizza Besigye eluded police surveillance and toured Kiboga hospital before police forced him out.
The opposition FDC Presidential candidate, Besigye was in Kiboga district on Thursday addressed his supporters at Saaza grounds, in 15 minutes he left for Kyankwanzi district due to limited time, anti-riot police which was also heavily deployed from morning at the venue, district headquarters and Kiboga main hospital also started withdrawing and went back to their main station.
Within ten minutes, Besigye and his body guards returned and immediately entered Kiboga hospital and started monitoring the situation before police came and forced him out of the hospital premises.
However Besigye claimed that his convoy met a pedestrian who was knocked by a hit and run taxi and decided to give assistance by taking the victim to hospital a claim that was yet verified by Daily Monitor at the time of filing this story.
Later, when contacted, Besigye said, “Police is being used in a partisan way; no one is supposed to block me from accessing any public facility, I will continue doing so because what am doing is legal and it is within my rights”.
Besigye is expected in Hoima district on Friday to address various rallies and police is already deployed on various schools and health facilities that are along the route that he is going to use.
Earlier on, Besigye told hundreds of his supporters in Kiboga district that when elected President he wants to ensure that power belongs to the people practically “not in documents like in this regime of president Museveni”.
