Police contradicts itself on Museveni’s orders to move FFU out of Kampala

Uganda police force has refuted claims that president Yoweri Museveni ordered its Field Force Unit (FFU) personnel out of Kampala City.

City section of the media recently reported that the president had ordered for redeployment of the FFU out of the city.

However, police spokesperson Andrew Kaweesi said the FFU has not been redeployed as reported in the media but it’s being reorganised to focus more on its core mandate of public prefer management and handling military like situations including criminal violence, highway security and security along the borders.

“The general policing duties which the unit has been handling in Kampala shall now be carried out by the general duty police personnel from Kampala Metropolitan police whose strength has been beefed up by the recently passed out Probationer Police Constables and cadet ASP officers,” said Kaweesi in a statement.
