Police in Uganda is investigating circumstances under which two counterterrorism officers were on Tuesday morning shot dead.
The commander of Flying Squad Unit (FSU), Herbert Muhangi who confirmed the incident said Simon Nuwamanya and Godfrey Wafula both police constables were shot and killed at Nalufenya police station by another constable Hosea Ankunda.
According to commander Muhangi, the two were shot as they attempted to access the station which is their residence past midnight.
All officers are required to be in the Barracks.
The two apparently breached the Baracks regulation.
They had been denied access because they were late and one of them was reportedly drunk.
A scuffle ensued and Ankunda who was one of the guards deployed to guard the staion at night shot at the two, killing one instantly.
The other officer is said to have died on the way to the hospital.
