Police combs city streets for toxic video


Uganda Police says it has confiscated discs of a film titled ‘The Journey of Uganda since 1982’, which is believed to contain violent content.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga told press in Kampala on Monday that they have so far seized 20 DVDs of the film.

Speaking at Police headquarters in Naguru, Enanga said the video was produced by a group calling itself ‘Twerwaneko Group’.

It was circulated in St Balikuddembe formerly Owino, Kikuubo, Old and New taxi parks, among other city areas.

“The video CDS are currently being examined by specialist officers who will also establish whether the video film was classified by the Censor Board at the Uganda Communications Commission.”

Enanga asked those who receive the videos not to watch them as they [videos] are inappropriate.

“We therefore, urge anyone who receives, possesses or finds the video film anywhere, not to view it because of the inappropriate and violent content.”
