Police has arrested one of its bosses following an incident in which a boda boda operator was shot.
North Kyoga police commander John Ematu Thursday ordered the arrest of Okello Okwang, a commanding officer for mishandling Lira market riots.
Moses Awal, a boda boda cyclist was on Thursday morning shot as police attempted to evict market vendors operating at Juba market, Central Division in Lira Town.
Awal, a resident of Ogor Sub-county, Otuke District, was shot on his waist as he rode his bicycle near the market.
He was rushed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital, where he is nursing his wounds.
Lira Hospital administrator Micheal Odur said Awal was being attended to.
During the eviction exercise, police fired live bullets and teargas to disperse the traders most of whom women dealing in foodstuffs. However, the exercise has been halted.
