Police arrests suspect in murder of Makerere student



Police has arrested a Makerere University student following the death of Desire Mirembe, another first year student who was doing a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Language Therapy.

Kampala Metropolitan police spokesman, Patrick Onyango, identified the suspect as Mathew Kirabo.

Kirabo was tracked by police flying squad after a tip that he had information relating to the death of Mirembe, who was raped, murdered her body dumped in a sugarcane plantation in Kibubbu village, Kawolo Sub-county, Buikwe District, at the weekend.

She is a daughter to Emmanuel Musoke, the Kalungu District chairperson.

Police managed to corner and arrest Kirabo yesterday in Kampala.

He was today paraded at Central Police Station where he is being held in custody.
