PICTURES: Police arrest teachers of Bridge International School for defying government closure order

Police has arrested teachers of a Bridge International School accused of defying government orders.

Teachers of Bridge International School, Jinja branch were on Friday after they were found teaching despsite a court ruling re-affirming an earlier directive by the ministry of education to have all the 63 branches closed due to poor sanitation and lack of qualifications and failing to follow the Ugandan curriculum.

In a November 10, 2016 letter signed by the chief administrative officer Oliva Nakyanzi, the five branches of Bridge international schools in Jinja were ordered to close on ground of providing unsanitary learning conditions, unqualified teachers and lack of a proper  licenses.

Jinja Education authorities accompanied by Jinja police, served all these schools with a letter ordering them to stop operating but in vain, leading to the arrest of the teachers.
