Uganda joined the rest of the world on Tuesday to celebrate the International Women’s Day.
President Yoweri Museveni’s government took cognizance of Ugandan women’s contribution to nation building, to peace and security at an event held at Kololo independence grounds.
The ceremony saw 399 people, mostly women, win different medals.
Among the women in Music industry recognised were; Marian Ndagire, Annet Nandujja and Margaret Kulubya.
Ndagire (born 16 May 1971) is a Ugandan female singer, entertainer, actress, playwright, film director and producer.
Nandujja is a traditional music artist.
“First of all, I congratulate all the women who are here and Ugandans who participated in the election process. I congratulate everyone who exercised their voting rights and I am grateful to those who voted NRM,” Museveni said in his speech.
“I want to assure you, nobody can cause trouble here (Uganda) as long as the National Resistance Movement is in charge.”
