President Yoweri Museveni who is also Commander-in-Chief of the Uganda Armed Forces has commissioned infantry officer cadets and Air Force Pilot Cadets who have trained and graduated from different academies locally and internationally.
Gen. Museveni said the training was in line with professionalizing the army and urged the officers to always be disciplined in all aspects of their work and life.
The 16 officer Cadets and Pilot Cadets trained from Lanyet Military Academy in Kenya, Tanzania Military Academy, Syzran Aviation Academy in Russia, Entebbe Air Base and Soroti Flying school.
The commissioning took place at a ceremony held at State House Entebbe and was witnessed by the Defence Council.
Relatedly, the pass out ceremony of warders and wardresses of the Uganda Prisons Services got underway today at Kololo ceremonial grounds.
1,248 Warders and Wardresses were passed out following training of nine months.
This pass out is the biggest since the existence of the prisons service.
The recruitment of these trainees were done from all districts of the country.
The Vice president, Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, officiated at the ceremony.
The key objective of the Uganda Prison service is to contribute to the protection of all members of society by providing reasonable, safe, secure and humane custody and rehabilitation of offenders in accordance to universally accepted standards.
