Ugandan parliament is today expected to audit the academic papers of First Lady Janet Museveni and approve or dismiss her from her appointment as the education and sports minister.
Mrs Museveni who’s a former minister in charge of Karamoja affairs is among the 81 newly appointed ministers expected to appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee for vetting in sessions which begin today.
Other ministers on today’s list for vetting include, Hon. Sam Kutesa, Hon. Kirunda Kivejinja, Gen Moses Ali, Muruli Mukasa, Amelia Anne Kyambadde, Gen Jeje Odongo, Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja, Kasaija Matia, Dr Jane Aceng-Health and Eng Ntege Azuba, among others.
Last week, Karamoja elders and youth protested the tranfer of Mrs Museveni whom they said had grossly transformed the sub-region.
In the recently announced new cabinet, Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni named Nyombi Thembo as the new minister in charge Karamoja affairs. However, the elders and youth in hostile region vowed to make his life hard claiming that want Mrs Museveni whom they had nicknamed mama (mother) back.
