Chris Obore, the director, communication and public affairs of the Parliament of Uganda says Members of the outgoing Parliament will not be made to return the iPads that were given to them.
“Much as they are a public property, the MPs are not to return the iPads,” Obore told NBS television on Monday.
Instead of returning the iPads, every MP to pay Shs500,000, deductible off May salary, for the iPads they received.
In regards to preparations ahead of the swearing in of 10th Parliament MPs, Obore everything is in order: “The process will take three days.”
This comes a week before the swearing-in of the 10th Parliament.
Parliament spent about Shs1bn on iPad tablet computers for MPs.
