The select committee investigating the demolition of Nabagereka Primary School and sale of Public school land has kicked out Charles Bakkabulindi, the State Minister for Education and Sports.
Bakkabulindi had appeared before the committee alongside Rose Nassali, the Education Ministry Permanent Secretary to respond to queries in relation to the demolition of Nabagereka Primary School and sale of Public school land on behalf of her boss Jessica Alupo.
On April 13th, Alupo wrote to the select committee Chairman Robert Migadde Ndugwa indicating that she had delegated Bakkabulindi to represent her in the meeting to answer failure by the ministry to acquire land titles for the schools under contention.
However the legislators rejected this, insisting that Alupo appears in person before them.
Before kicking out the minister, Migadde told him that he was also being investigated for his role in the sale of Nakivubo Stadium and East Kololo Primary School land after he was implicated by some witnesses.
This is the third time that Alupo has failed to appear before the committee, prompting the committee members to resort to other measures to compel her to appear.
The committee has now issued summons to Minister Alupo to appear before them next week.
Olivia Kwagala, the Iganga District Woman MP wants the committee to consult with Parliament on how to deal with errant ministers who defy committee invitations.
Bakkabulindi, on the other hand, did not argue with the committee members, and left shortly after.
