Parliament of Uganda has approved Bukoto County Central constituency MP for the post of Vice President, two days after he was appointed to the position by President Yoweri Museveni.
The motion to approve Mr Ssekandi was moved by government Chief Whip Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa and seconded by FDC’s Odonga Otto (Aruu County) and DP’s Joseph Ssewungu (Kalungu West).
In his acceptance speech, Ssekandi who got 280 votes of MP, with only four voting against while nine abstained said, “I want to thank you for what you have done today. I also want to thank Museven for the confidence he has put in me by appointing me as his VP. I must say HE Museveni has observed me for a very long tim because we haven together since when we wre at university of Dar es Salaam. I will serve H.E Museveni and Ugandans with the best of my ability.”
He was first appointed VP in 2011, replacing Busiro North constituency MP Gilbert Bukenya
