There was tesnion yesterday at Kololo Independence grounds as a middle aged woman leapt from the pavilion and started racing towards Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni.
This was shortly after Museveni had addressed the gathering on the last day of commemoration of Police week.
In his speech, Museveni had lauded police for arresting opposition leader and former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye and escorting him to his home in Wakiso District.
The woman identified as Hadijah Nakazi was however intercepted by security team, the Special Forces Command (SFC) and whisked away.
SFC spokesperson Chris Magezi said the incident does not call for alarm because it has happened several times before.
According to him, they are investigating Nakazi’s motive but the Insider has been made to understand that the woman wanted to meet president about a promised compensation that never materialized.
Nakazi’s acre of Myrrh plantation in Butambala was reportedly taken by a Chinese Company that was setting up a Fish factory in the area.
She was poorly compensated and she filed a complaint to all concerned offices until she was able to meet the president who promised her an additional compensation of Sh70m.
President reportedly handed over Nakazi to the Senior Presidential advisor on Security, Brig. Proscovia Nalweyiso to effect the said compensation which has been pending for now one year and three months.
