More than 40 children have been either killed or trafficked by witchdoctors for ritual sacrifice in Acholi sub region in the last five years, according to statistics from officials of National Traditional Healers, Herbalists and Birth Attendants Association.
The incidences are said to have occurred between 2010 and 2014.
According to the regional coordinator for the traditional healers Juliet Adoch, the problem is escalated by witchdoctors who value body parts of the children for ritual sacrifice.
She said more than 50 % of the cases have been reported in the districts of Nwoya and Amuru.
However, authorities have as usual threatened to arrest and prosecute anyone found culpable of ritual sacrifice or human trafficking.
Last week, two children in Gulu and Nwoya district who went missing were found with missing body parts with police blaming the heinous crime on ritual sacrifice.
