Aruu County MP, Odonga Otto, has lead a group of opposition youth and stormed The Democratic Alliance meeting demanding that Kizza Besigye leaves the room.
The group of FDC youth have raided storm Royal Suites Bugolobi, the venue for the TDA summit meeting demanding for their party’s withdraw from the opposition alliance.
The youth this week petitioned the FDC party National Executive Committee [NEC] demanding that the party withdraws from the coalition.
This came after the TDA Candidates Selection Committee rated former the Prime Minister as the best aspirant to represent the alliance in the 2016 general elections.
Mbabazi scored 46 percent, beating Opposition candidate Kizza Besigye – the Forum for Democratic Change presidential flag bearer, who scored 45 percent.
The youth also later joined by Jack Sabiti, also demanded a review of the TDA candidate selection criteria.
In the NEC meeting chaired by party president, Mugisha Muntu, and held at Najjankumbi headquarters, Besigye advised FDC not to leave the alliance prematurely.
He said they have not yet agreed on many things but that there was still time to discuss and settle the issues.
Storming of the meeting
We are told the FDC youth who stormed the meeting are led by seven other Members of Parliament [including Otto].
They entered the room forcefully and demanded that their presidential flag bearer leaves the vetting meeting.
They accuse TDA of leaning towards Mbabazi under his Go Forward pro change pressure group saying he is still an NRM member.
They youth say they can only be part of an opposition-led coalition [since Amama is still in the ruling party].
The supporters by the time of filing the report were trying to forcefully remove Besigye from the meeting.
