Odonga Otto, the Aruu County Member of Parliament has camped at Masindi Central Police demanding the release of his Kilak county counterpart Gilbert Olanya.
Olanya was arrested on Monday for allegedly inciting residents to resist the demarcation of the dispute Amuru-Adjumani boundary.
He was picked up in Parabongo parish, Pabbo Sub-county, on his way to the disputed Apaa land.
The MP was briefly detained at Bobi and later transferred to Masindi, where he has been detained beyond the mandatory 48 hours.
On Tuesday, his lawyer James Onen tried to secure the MP’s release on Police bond in vain as Masindi Police claimed they didn’t have his case file in Masindi.
Now, his Aruu County counterpart Odonga Otto has camped at Masindi Central Police Station vowing not to leave until the suspect is granted Police bond or arraigned in court.
Otto is seen carrying a mattress for temporary beddings as he begins a protest to ensure his colleague is released from police detention.
