“Unless Ugandans are mad they cannot support Amama Mbabazi or Kizza Besigye, why?” President Yoweri Museveni wondered.
While addressing press at State House Entebbe yesterday, Museveni called the duo opportunists and liars.
He was responding to a question of whether the 2016 race will be a tight one for him.
“There will be no tight race because what will Mbabazi have to tell people. I have not spoken about Mbabazi, if I speak about Mbabazi, unless Ugandans are mad. They can’t support Mbabazi. Why?”
He said Mbabazi, who he sacked from the position of Prime Minister, didn’t even think about his slogan “Go Forward”.
“Maybe if he said move quicker or something like that. But moving forward? If I go to these villages and I talk in these local languages, who will follow these gentlemen? They have no message.”
He continued: “They are just telling lies. I have heard about Movement Forward, Movement Forward to where? What have you been doing all this time?”
He then picked on Besigye saying he deserted the movement in 2001.
“Besigye went away but by that time we still had a lot of problems – Kony was till killing people, the Karimojong had guns, ADF was still in the Rwenzori mountains, Besigye went away.”
“He [Besigye] then started shouting…Museveni agende (Museveni should go), I stayed here and solved all those problems. Now Besigye comes back to say elect me. When you abandoned us?”
Museveni promised to expose the two as long he is still alive.
“I will expose them. What will they say now? I am not yet dead.”
Museveni said Ugandans have problems and they need solutions.
