Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) students on Monday staged a strike.

The students are protesting against a strict retake policy and poor welfare.

One student, according to reports, has been arrested and rushed to Mbarara Central Police Station.

According to the placards carried by the students, the university charges them Shs 200,000 per retake paper.

The students say this is a lot and are asking the administration to reduce the amount to atleast Shs50,000.

Their strike comes days after the closure of Makerere University over students and lecturers’ strikes.
