Okoro county Member of Parliament, Hon Stanley Umwonya, is dead.
Omwonya who hails from Zombo District even attended the NRM delegates conference at Namboole stadium on Sunday.
He said to have collapsed last night and was rushed to hospital.
Initial reports from Kampala International hospital [IHK] say the legislator succumbed to high blood pressure.
The 64-year-old has been a Member of Parliament since 2011.
Born on May 23, 1951, Omwonya held various government offices such as Under Secretary Ministry of Tourism Trade and Industry, Ag Secretary Education service Commission, Under Secretary Uganda Land Commission and District Commissioner (Kabale, Bushenyi, Lira).
He graduated from Makerere University in 1975 before securing a Master’s degree in development administration from Birmingham University, UK.
He also served on the Parliamentary Committees on Foreign Affairs and Local Government Accounts.
