Obama heads to Nairobi, Kenya closes airspace

US President Barack Obama has Friday left for Nairobi via Germany as earlier scheduled.

A White House spokesperson said Thursday that Obama’s departure schedule had not been altered and that Air Force One would leave Joint Base Andrews en route Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany.

His plane also passed through United Kingdom airspace this morning.

According to White House national security adviser, Susan Rice, Air Force One will land in Nairobi on Friday and depart on Sunday.

Meanwhile, has closed its airspace for a 50-minute window ahead of Obama’s arrival, according to the country’s civil aviation authority (KCAA).

Obama will attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Nairobi.
