You may not be entirely wrong to say the Kamwokya based NBS TV is out to “empty” NTV Uganda’s newsroom.
Yesterday, NTV’s senior news reporter, Solomon Sserwanja, announced that he had quit the Serena based station and was headed to Kira Road to the fast growing NBS owned by Kin Kariisa, a former State House staff.
“Today I walk out of the doors of NTV Uganda a grown up man both professionally and personally,” Sserwanja said in a social media message.
“I came in as a junior reporter, now a celebrated journalists [political reporter and anchor].Thank you NTV Uganda for making this star shine.”
Sserwanja announced that he was beginning another journey in his professional career to KTN and NBS.
“I interest you to join me on this journey,” he reminded fans.
Reports have it that not only Sserwanja is leaving NTV but more other senior staff including; Chrismel Wasswa, the head of news production and quality control and cameraman Geoffrey Badebye.
The same report has it that Weekend Edition news anchor, Rukshana Namuyimba, Samuel Walugembe (head of graphics), Sheila Mugisha (a features reporter) are also in the corridor heading out.
There are rumours indicating that hot items; Maurice Ochol and Shiela Nduhukire, are also “facing the exit door” to join NBS TV.
We could not independently verify this allegation.
However, we are told the staff are seeking better paying slots elsewhere after Aggie Konde, the Managing Director of the Nation Media Group owned television, kept renewing promises of salary increment without delivering.
