Ntare students arrested for hurting a homosexual

Six students of Ntare School are being held at Mbarara Police for destroying a colleague’s property during a strike.

Yosamu Tindifayo, Nelson Tandeka, Ben Semugabo, Jovan Asiimwe, Joshua Byomuhangi and Faisal Hamdan were arrested Tuesday after the administrators rung the suspects’ parents/guardians to send the students to school to pick their end of term reports.

As soon as they appeared at school, the suspected students were immediately arrested and detained at Mbarara Police Station as investigations into the matter continue.

They are all accused of burning beddings and other property belonging to Ibrahim Kiiza Mugoya, a fellow student who they accuse of practicing homosexuality.

Mbarara OC/CID, Taban Chiriga, confirmed the students’ arrest, saying they will have to pay for the property destroyed after investigations are finished and proven that they are guilty.

Chiriga urged parents and the administration to hold discussions with students with the view of rectifying the issues affecting the school citing that some of these issues may be administrative and in some instances students resort to violence in defense of their rights against an authoritarian administration.

Days ago, Ntare administration sent home all students and closed the term prematurely after a foiled strike over gayism.
