Kampala Central MP Mohammed Nsereko has promised a more believable Parliament should he be elected to deputise speaker Rebecca Kadaga.
There was comedy when Budaka Woman MP-elect Pamela Kamugo knelt before MP Nsereko, pledging support for his deputy speakership bid.
Addressing press at parliament on Monday, Nsereko said the image of the Parliament should be more important than any personality.
“With Kadaga as Speaker and Nsereko as deputy, we will have a very different Parliament that will restore public trust,” he told press.
Under his deputy speakership, Nsereko promised to fight for the rights of Parliament reporters saying no one has a right to lock out any journalist given that a number of the very MPs that they cover only hold an A ‘level certificate.
“Hon Rebecca Kadaga is the most ideal for the Speaker job and has my backing.”
