NRM Poor Youth Forum members are currently camped at former Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi’s home in Kololo, Kampala.
The group has been welcomed and made to feel at home by Mbabazi’s wife, also the NRM Women League chairperson, Jacqueline Mbabazi.
The enthusiastic youth were chanting pro-Mbabazi slogans while enjoying the cool of his compound.
“Mbabazi oyee! Mbabazi celeb!” they chanted as they waited for the former NRM Secretary General to come out and meet them.
The over 30 youth are donning yellow t-shirts with the inscription “JPAM” on them.
The youth say they appreciate Amama as a model leader and are calling upon him to stand come 2016 general elections.
Earlier visits and pleas
This is the second time the same youth group is visiting Amama’s home.
Back in February 2015, NRM Poor Youth stormed Amama’s home urging him to declare his intentions ahead of the upcoming elections in 2016.
The group was led by their National coordinator, Isa Kato, showed up at Kinkizi West MP’s home in Kololo with posters and a certificate endorsing him for the 2016 presidential elections.
Amama instead told them that he would follow the rules of his party, NRM and tactically refused to declare his presidential bid.
In late April, a group of youth calling themselves the ‘Mbabazi Western Brigade Camp’ met Amama at his Kololo residence.
Led by Ellad Muyambi, the youth wanted Mbabazi to put an end to the speculation about his political ambitions and give a roadmap for 2016 general elections.
Mbabazi continues to evade the question of his political future.
